ABOUT ME

HANNAH SMELCER

For as long as I can remember food allergies have been a part of who I am. At the age of four I was diagnosed with severe allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. Twelve years later I found out I developed more allergies, making a total of 13 food allergies. This new diagnosis was just the beginning of a very challenging journey. From sports to college to dating or just day to day life, I struggled with finding my voice. I wanted to create this blog to share what I’ve learned (and am still learning) for those going through the same journey or give perspective for those who may not be. When I’m not advocating for food allergy awareness you can find me taking photos, singing at church, working in the hospital, or snuggling with my doodle.

GUS, SDit

My name is Gus and I am a service dog in training to detect peanuts and tree nuts in foods, on surfaces, and even in the air! Even though I am only 5 months old I’m super smart and have lots of skills already under my belt. When I am not out practicing my skills you can find me playing on the campus tennis courts, eating pup cups, and playing tackle with my dad.
